Welcome to Polly Annas Nursery

We are extremely pleased and proud to announce officially that Ofsted has at their last inspection of our nursery rated our early years setting as

and have published their report on their website. This is a link to the report.

Outstanding is the highest rating Ofsted can give to any early years setting and is only given to the top 10% in the country. It confirms that our setting is preforming over and above the expected level and that children attending here receive the very best of care and education.

Our Nursery
As we are a family owned and run business we believe we can offer something unique to you and your child in the warmth and love your child will be offered in our family nursery.
Our aim at Polly Anna’s is to provide a safe and caring environment for children from birth to five years, where a child can reach their own potential with our support and encouragement. We believe that each child is an individual and has skills, needs and character that can be appreciated and responded to. We strive to provide an enriching learning experience in which the children in our care can feel secure and loved. During their time with us they can enjoy all the wonderful things that childhood brings - laughter, learning and sharing.
We believe that quality early years education does not come from a book. It cannot be purchased or delivered to your door. It’s not pre-cut pumpkins or circles for snowmen. It’s not two dimensional colouring sheets or outdated dittos. It certainly isn’t hours of teacher directed activities or forced participation. It’s not an end product. It isn’t rigid detailed schedules hanging on the wall. It does not have to come from a school or classroom setting. It doesn’t mean designer furniture and perfectly landscaped playgrounds. Quality early years education is much more than that. It’s about engaging in meaningful conversations and every day experiences. It’s developing a relationship with each child and embracing their individuality. It’s allowing them to use all of their senses. It’s child led and driven by their desire to understand more. It trusts them as capable learners and supports their choices. It’s about exploration and freedom of creativity. It allows them to accomplish goals in their OWN time. It’s about respecting them where they are developmentally. It understands the value of play. It’s unhurried and embraced. It’s being in the moment. It’s taking the time to pick the dandelions and dancing in mud puddles. It’s mixing paint just for the sake of mixing it. Its play dough in their hair and grass stained knees. Some may argue that the parents want to see "proof” of learning. We say, if they want to see proof tell them to look in the eyes and hearts of their children. It’s there they will find what they are looking for.
We want our parents to be able to leave their children safe in the knowledge that they are happy and being well looked after by staff that are suitably qualified and experienced, and who are committed to the highest standards of childcare & education practices for young children.

Our Nursery Manager, Helen Horner BA (Hons) PGCE (Post Graduate Certificate in Education) EYT (Early Years Teacher).
Her 1st Class Honours Degree is in Early Years Leadership & Management, she is a validated Early Years Teacher and recently been awarded her Certificate in Education that allows her to teach at post 16 students at College level.
With years of experience in Early Years and education she leads a team of similarly highly qualified staff.
With nearly 100% of our staff with a Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Early Years which entitles them to be called Early Years Educators. This is one level above the minimum than Ofsted recommendation.
Each area in our nursery has a dedicated Manager: Babies & Toddlers, is Lynette and Pre-School, is Wendy. They all have additional qualifications and experience to be able to offer children in these areas the support and challenge to develop to their maximum potential. Each of these Managers has a team of qualified and experienced staff who are committed to our policy of Continues Professional Development which insures we maintain the highest standard of education and care. You can find out more on our staff in the staff section of our website.

‘Special Person’
All children will have one of our team become their ‘special person’ (or key person) who will take special responsibility for your child, making sure they fully understand everything about your child, making them feel welcome and valued as an individual, they will know their likes and dislikes working in partnership with parents, they will be that someone special when they want to share a special moment with or give a cuddle when they are sad, someone who will help others understand them, someone to make them feel that extra bit special every time they come to nursery. They will also work very closely with you their parent, initially helping you with settling your child into nursery by getting lots of information from you, then to liaise with and support you as to what your child has been doing at nursery, to help you with share with you your child’s experiences and development, they will also be there to help, support and advise during any difficulties such as illness, etc. They are not just your child’s special person they are your special person too.
If you have any questions about our nursery please ring 01904 765049 and ask to speak to Helen who will only be too please to help in any way she can.
